Dr. Pok Eng Hong is a highly experienced and accomplished surgeon specializing in Upper GI, Bariatric & Metabolic, and General surgery. He is associated with the Ramsay Sime Darby Healthcare group and practices at prestigious medical centers including Subang Jaya Medical Centre, Ara Damansara Medical Centre, and Parkcity Medical Centre.
Dr. Pok Eng Hong’s educational journey began at the University of Malaya, where he graduated in 2001. He further pursued his academic and professional growth by completing his Masters of Surgery at the same university in 2009. To enhance his expertise, he embarked on clinical fellowships in different regions. He focused on Upper GI surgery, particularly esophageal and gastric cancer surgery, and Minimally Invasive Surgery during a clinical fellowship at the National Cancer Centre in Japan. Additionally, he obtained advanced training in Upper GI cancer and advanced therapeutic endoscopy in Japan. Later, he completed a bariatric and metabolic surgery fellowship in Taiwan.
With his vast experience and knowledge, Dr. Pok Eng Hong specializes in various surgical procedures, including laparoscopic bariatric surgery, gastrointestinal surgery, cancer surgery, diagnostic, and therapeutic endoscopy. He has served as a senior lecturer and consultant General and Upper GI surgeon at the University Malaya Medical Centre since 2010. During his tenure, he has trained numerous undergraduate and post-graduate surgical trainees in the field of minimally invasive surgery.
In recognition of his commitment to advancing surgical oncology, he was awarded the Soudavar Memorial Fellowship in surgical oncology at the prestigious Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York in 2015. This opportunity allowed him to refine his expertise in surgical oncology, specifically in esophageal, gastric, and colorectal cancer surgery.
